A LOFT IN THE SUBURBS
The first phase of a complete refurbishment of a large 1930’s detached house on western fringe of Cambridge. The brief was to create a new ‘loft apartment’ extension, in which the clients can live whilst the works to the rest of the house are carried out. The new extension, from the front, had to look like part of the original house, with matching windows, brick and roof profile. Internally, however, there is a triple height space incorporating a ground floor kitchen area, shower room and WC, a sleeping mezzanine and a study area at the top that hangs from the roof structure over the spaces below.
