COUNTRY GARDEN STUDIOS
A collection of new ‘agricultural’ buildings at the threshold between the formal garden of the main house and meadow beyond in a small Northamptonshire village. The brief asked for an ‘Annexe’ building with catering facilities and a bathroom, where our clients might ‘go away’ for the weekend, a garden storage building with room for an office at one end, a carport and a greenhouse. Using a palette of unadorned materials, local coursed limestone, sawn larch timber, corrugated aluminium and Cor-ten, in a variety of different ways, we have created a relaxed informality between the buildings as if they have inhabited the site over a period of time as needs required.
THE PROJECT WON A RIBA EAST MIDLANDS AWARD IN 2016

“These beautifully crafted spaces each have a distinct character reflected in material usage and detailing, working on multiple levels to form a beautiful, elegant ‘extension’ to the house that sits perfectly in the landscape, whilst opening up and exploiting the views from the main house to the paddock and meadow beyond.”
